She settled on Oahu as her home in the 1990s.<\/p>\n<p>Saku shared her name with her mother who was supportive of her artistic interests throughout her childhood.<\/p>\n<p>In honor of her mother, who has since passed, she uses her middle name (her mother&#8217;s first) in her creative endeavors. The name &#8220;Saku&#8221; also translates to mean &#8220;to bloom&#8221;.
